She’s a slow travel, negroni and SPF addict; he’s a nomadic photog with a minor taco dependency. Meet the editorial team behind Twell™️.

Lauren Rich-Lama, Founder + Editor / @lauren.r.lama
Originally hailing from the glorious ‘burbs of Maryland, Lauren spent 15 years having a love affair with New York City before becoming a full-time globetrotter. Currently, you can find her livin’ la vida loca (a.k.a. navigating expat life) in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. But let’s rewind. A serial entrepreneur, Lauren has been proudly self-employed since her last year at FIT. Past lives have seen her at the helm of an eponymous fashion PR agency for nearly a decade, moonlighting as a freelance lifestyle writer and joining forces with her husband, Alberto, to run a successful wedding photography studio.
A self-described boss babe, maximalist (read: borderline hoarder) turned-minimalist, slow traveler and sun avoidant SPF addict, Lauren’s happiest on the road, on a boat or in the air (just not a red-eye). Fueling said wanderlust, she founded Twell™️ as an editorial destination for fellow travel babes seeking mindful, stylish and streamlined travel inspiration. On any given day Lauren can be found embarking on an adventure, plotting a new one or recapping recent antics – usually at happy hour over a mezcal negroni. Cheers!

Alberto Lama, Photographer / @albertolamaphotographer
Born and raised in the vibrant surroundings of Mexico City, Alberto was drawn to the art of documenting people, places and the unexpected from a young age. He was also drawn to New York City, where he moved on a leap of faith and spent the next 16 years building and evolving his photography career. Fun fact: part of this evolution included a stint as a DJ, where he opened for the likes of Moby, Tiesto and Paul Oakenfold.
After shooting everything from portraits and weddings to real estate and still life in New York, Alberto now enjoys life as a nomadic travel photographer in, and out of, his current home base in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. Here, he can also be found working on language #3 (Italian), perpetually searching for the perfect taco al pastor and embarking on any number of adventures with his wife and partner-in-crime, Lauren.
